6 AN + sustantivo singular em orações afirmativas, negativas e interrogativas quando o sustantivo começa por som vocálico There is an elephant. Há um elefante. A + sustantivo singular em orações afirmativas, negativas e interrogativas quando o sustantivo começa por som consonantal There is a car. Há um carro.

7 Articles a an Indefinite article or The indefinite article means ONE.
It can only be used with singular countable nouns

8 “a” is used before consonant sounds.
Ex.: a book, a chair, a key. “an” is used before vowel sounds. Ex.: an apple, an engineer, an umbrella. Exceptions: a university, a uniform “u” has the same sound as “y” - you (consonant)
