2  Serve para enunciar ações que estejam ocorrendo no momento em que se fala;  Exprime ações temporárias.

3  Como Regra Geral do Present Continuous/ Progressive temos: Ao fim de cada verbo deve- se acrescentar o sufixo –ING  Exemplos: Read – Reading;  Watch – Watching.

4  Verbos terminados em:  E- elimina-se o –e e acrescenta-se –ING, tal como: Drive- Driving/ Love- Loving/ Dance/ Dancing;  EE- acrescenta-se –ING normalmente, tal como: Flee- Fleeing;  Ie- troca-se o –ie por –y e acrescenta-se -ing, tal como: Die- Dying/ Tie- Tying;  Ye- acrescenta-se –ING normalmente, tal como: Dye/ Dyeing.

5  Verbos monossilábicos ou dissilábicos oxítonos terminados em: CONSOANTE+VOGAL+CONSOANTE, dobra-se a última consoante e acrescenta-se o –ING, tal como: Run- Running/ Swim- Swimming/ Begin- Beginning/ Prefer- preferring

6  Verbos terminados em –L dobram o –L somente se for precedido de apenas 1 vogal, caso contrário, acrescenta-se –ING normalmente, tal como: Travel- Travelling/ Feel- Feeling

7  Qualquer verbo terminado em –Y recebe o – ING, sem perder o –Y, tal como: Study- Studying/ Play- Playing
