PAST CONTINUOUS

The girl was studying in Greece in 1988.

Geralmente utiliza-se, nesses casos, o conectivo “when”.

The girl was studying in Greece WHEN the conflicts started.
SIMPLE PAST PAST CONTINUOUS

Neste caso, teremos sempre duas sentenças no passado contínuo e, geralmente, a presença do conectivo “while”.

The girl was studying in Greece WHILE the boy was working in Belgium.
