Orientações práticas de aplicação dessa atividade To point out the role of the English language in the world, you can first use a world map (a big poster) to show your students countries where the language is spoken. Name the countries in English and make it a moment for deductive input. Then you can make a question such as ‘What do people use English for?’ and elicit ideas. Students will answer in their mother tongue but you can summarize their contributions in English, writing some of them on the board. FYI: English is the main language of books, newspapers, airports and air-traffic control, international business and academic conferences, science, technology, diplomacy, sport, international competitions, pop music and advertising .
