FUTURE TENSES Professora Ellen Ikeda Inglês Técnico
Existem três formas de expressarmos o futuro na língua inglesa. –Present Continuous –WILL –BE GOING TO
Present Continuous for future Podemos utilizar Present Continuous para expressar algo que está acontecendo neste momento, assim como para expressar uma ação em um futuro próximo.
Observe os exemplos: I’m watching a good film on TV. Eu estou assistindo um bom filme na TV. I’m watching a good film on TV tonight. Eu vou assistir um bom filme na TV hoje à noite.
Uso: O Present Continuous é usado quando já foram tomadas providências ou feitas combinações referentes ao futuro, ou para expressar que existe um horário preestabelecido. I’ve got a busy week. Tomorrow I’m painting the kitchen. Quando o present continuous se refere ao futuro, ele é normalmente usado com uma indicação temporal: next week, on Friday, at seven o’clock etc.
Affirmative: Examples: She’s doing her homework this evening. We’re traveling to São Paulo next weekend. Sujeito + verb to be + verb (+ing)
Interrogative: Examples: Are you playing soccer tomorrow? Is your sister coming next holiday? Verb to be + sujeito + verb (+ing)?
Negative: Examples: They’re not meeting each other next Saturday. She isn’t cooking dinner tonight. Sujeito + verb to be + not + verb (+ing)
Will Para expressar uma ação futura podemos utilizar o marcador WILL também. Ele é simples e fácil de ser empregado.
Uso: 1-Previsões “simples”, geralmente com incerteza, sobre algum evento futuro. I think I will go by taxi Brazil will win the next World Cup. 2- Decisões que foram tomadas no momento em que a pessoa está falando: - My house is a mess. I need to clean all the rooms. - I’ll help you.
Affirmative: Examples: She will visit her parents. I’ll finish my research. *Podemos usar a forma contracta de Will = ‘ll Sujeito + WILL + verb
Negative: Examples: We will not go to São Paulo this month. They won’t answer the question. *Podemos usar a forma contracta de Will not = won’t Sujeito + WILL + not + verb
Interrogative: Examples: Will you help me? Will he remain in silence? WILL + sujeito + verb?
BE GOING TO: Uma outra forma de falar do futuro é usando o Be going to. Example: We are going to work this weekend.
Usos: Quando você está certo de que algo vai acontecer, use então BE GOING TO. Example: Look at that car. It’s going to crash in the yellow one.
Affirmative: Examples: My parents are going to make a birthday party for me. He’s going to surf on the Internet. Sujeito + verb to be + GOING TO + verb
Negative: Examples: The students aren’t going to have an exam. I’m sure I’m not going to be here tomorrow. Sujeito + verb to be + not + GOING TO + verb
Interrogative: Examples: Are you going to help me with this? Is your brother going to work with you ? Verb to be + sujeito + GOING TO + verb?
