Gerúndios Gerúndio, ou “verbo com -ing”, é a forma nominal verbal usada geralmente em tempos contínuos. Presente Contínuo: She is waiting for me. They are having a party. • Passado Contínuo We were studying yesterday evening. I was asking for help when she passed.

1) Ação como sujeito de frase: Swimming is good for you. Há outros casos de uso de gerúndio, mas que não se referem a tempos contínuos. Observe: 1) Ação como sujeito de frase: Swimming is good for you. She told me that playing soccer motivates her. 2) Complemento de alguns verbos (to admit, to deny, to avoid, to consider, to delay, to deslike, to imagine, to postpone, to enjoy, to suggest, to quit, to miss, to mind, to face, etc) Susan likes reading. Her parents hate waiting.

3) Verbos “to go” e “to come”, quando esses se referirem à atividade física ou esporte. Let’s go biking? Henry came running to my house. He goes boxing every Friday. 4) Phrasal verbs como give up, keep on, put off, feel like, get up Keep on exercising everyone! Jon wants to give up fencing.
