Regular Verbs A maioria dos verbos são divididos em REGULARES E IRREGULARES. Os REGULARES recebem o acréscimo de “ED” ao infinitivo para formar o “SIMPLE PAST – PAST PARTICIPLE”. Exemplo: To Help – Helped – Helped The employees helped the refugees. ( Os empregados ajudaram os refugiados)
Regular Verbs (CONT.) O acréscimo do sufixo “ED” ao verbo obedece a algumas regras: Verbos terminados em: E: Acrescente “D”. EX.: To Live – Lived 2. Vogal + Y: Acrescente “ED” Ex.: To Play - Played
Regular Verbs (CONT.) 3. Consoante + Y: Exclua o “Y” e acrescente “IED” Ex.: To carry – Carried. 4. Consoante + Vogal tônica + Consoante: Repita a consoante final e acrescente “ED” Ex.: To stop – Stopped Verbos terminados em “W” ou “X” não seguem essa regra. Ex.: To fix - Fixed
Regular Verbs (CONT.) 5. Verbos terminados em “C”: Acrescente “K+ED”. Ex.: To traffic – Trafficked.
Irregular Verbs. Geralmente apresentam formas distintas para o “Simple Past e o Past Participle” Ex.: To Begin – Began – Begun.
Formas Para fazer perguntas ou negação, use o auxiliar “DID”. Negação: (DID + NOT = DIDN’T) Ex.: Frank did not (didn’t) use a credit card. Oauxiliar “DID” não tem tradução, só aparece para indicar o “Simple Past” na negação ou na interrogação.
Formas Interrogação: DID + SUJEITO + V. PRINCIPAL (A+S+I) (Auxiliar + Sujeito + Infinitivo) Ex.: Did Frank use a credit card?
Uso (SIMPLE PAST.) Descreve uma ação ocorrida e concluída no passado Ex.: Zack started a blogo last year. (Zack começou um blog ano passado) Advérbios e locuções adverbiais que podem ser usados nesse caso: Yesterday (ontem), The day before yesterday (anteontem), Last week – night – spring (na semana – noite – na primavera passada), a month – year – century ago (um mês – ano – século atrás).
